Who is Inner Fire for?
Inner Fire is especially designed for gifted and 2E learners, but our model of high individualization, autonomy, and trust has been working well for a diverse range of learners. Only about half of our students are gifted, and we have several who came to our school initially below grade level and have thrived.
Gifted students love that they can go at their own pace for math, writing, coding, and foreign languages so they’re never bored. But other students also go at their own pace, so they’re not overwhelmed. Students don’t get to choose whether or not to do their work, but they do get have a lot of choice on how, where, and when they do it. 2E students in particular benefit from this autonomy: so long as they’re not disrupting others they can sit or move however best suits them. And all our students love that we give plenty of breaks and outdoor time for play–unstructured interaction is critical for learning.
Both our gifted and non-gifted students love being in our school, which is the foundational priority for everything we do.
